How recording works.
What gets recorded, who hears what, who gets the record and how long we keep it — worth two minutes before your first call.
What gets recorded
Every Walkie call is recorded, from the moment it connects until it ends. There's no switch to turn it off. Voice memos are recorded when you press record. Nothing else is — Walkie doesn't listen in the background, and there's no ambient recording of any kind.
What the other person hears
Before your first Walkie call, the app shows you a disclosure explaining that calls are recorded. While a call is running, both people see a recording indicator on screen for the whole call.
When you call an ordinary phone number, a spoken notice plays on the answering device when the call connects.

Who gets the record
A Walkie-to-Walkie call: everyone on the call gets the same recording, transcript and summary. Not a copy, not a summary of a summary — the same thing. There's no version somebody else has that you don't.
A call to an ordinary phone number: it's recorded too, but that record stays with you. The person you called has no Walkie account and no access to it. If you want them to have the summary, you send it to them.
The transcript and the summary are written by AI, not by a person. The recording is the original, and it's what to check when a detail matters.
How long we keep things
Call audio is kept for 3 years and then deleted. Transcripts and summaries are kept like messages, indefinitely. Nobody — including us — can edit or delete a transcript or summary once it exists.
Deleting your account closes your access. It does not remove your voice, your name, or what you sent from conversations other people are still in.
Our data retention schedule lists every category of content and how long we keep it.
How your data is protected
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted, and our cloud providers encrypt stored data. Data cached on your phone is protected by your device, not separately encrypted by us. Calls to ordinary phone numbers travel unencrypted over the phone network.
Recordings and photos sit in private storage and are reached only through short-lived signed links. Access is scoped to the conversation — being in a company doesn't give anyone access to a conversation they're not in.
What we don't do
- No background location tracking.
- No monitoring dashboard.
- No manager view of anyone's private follow-ups.
- No selling your conversations, and no advertiser or sponsor access to private content.
- Paying for someone's plan does not let you see their conversations.
- We do not use your recordings, transcripts, messages or files to train AI models. If we ever want to, we will ask first, and it will be opt-in.
Good to know
Getting a copy of your data. There's no download button yet. Email support@walkiepro.com and we'll get you a copy.
Certifications. Our infrastructure providers hold their own — they're listed on our subprocessors page.
Editing a summary. You cannot edit the text yourself.
Correcting a summary. Reply in the conversation with the correction and it sits alongside the record, so everyone sees both.
Integrations. One: Slack. You choose which messages and photos to send to a Slack channel, one at a time.
Importing history. Walkie Pro starts from the day you start it. There is no import from a message thread.
Your responsibility
Recording laws differ by place. You're responsible for how you use Walkie where you work. If you're unsure, ask a lawyer where you are. This page is informational and is not legal advice. Our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy are the binding documents.
