Someone who uses the Walkie Pro app called your regular phone number. The call was recorded, and Walkie wrote up a transcript and a short summary for the person who called you. You don’t get the recording, and when Walkie detects voicemail, it hangs up without recording.

What happened on the call

  • You heard a short notice. Right after you answer and say hello, a recorded voice says: “This call is recorded.” People who answer inside the Walkie Pro app hear a longer version the first time: “This Walkie call is recorded. Everyone on Walkie gets the recording, transcript, and summary.”
  • Recording starts a moment after you answer, before the notice, so your hello may be on it.
  • The record stays with the caller. The recording, the transcript and the summary go into the caller’s Walkie Pro app. You have no account and no access to them, and nobody else can be added to that conversation.
  • Voicemail is usually skipped. When Walkie detects voicemail or an answering machine, nothing plays, nothing is recorded, and the call ends. If it can’t tell, it treats the call as answered.
  • The number on your screen is the caller’s own mobile number, or their Walkie line number if they have one.

If it didn’t work

  • You didn’t hear any notice. The notice starts after you finish saying hello. If you hung up straight away, you may have missed it. If you’re sure you heard nothing, tell us (see below).
  • You want to call them back. Call the number that called you. If it’s their Walkie line, you should hear “Thanks for calling. This call is recorded and transcribed by Walkie Pro. Connecting you now.” and then it rings them in the app. If nobody answers, you should hear “No one can take your call right now. Please try again later.”
  • The number says it isn’t taking calls. “This number isn’t taking calls right now” means that Walkie line is on hold. Reach the person another way.
  • You then got a text from Walkie Pro. The caller sent you a recap of the call. See why you got a call recap text, below.

What Walkie can’t do

  • Walkie can’t send you the recording, transcript or summary. Only the person who called you can share it.
  • The notice can’t be turned off by the caller.
  • Walkie Pro can only call US and Canadian (+1) numbers.
  • Walkie generally can’t delete a recording, transcript or summary of a call you were on, because it’s also the caller’s record.
  • Call audio is kept for three years and then deleted. Transcripts and summaries are kept like messages, indefinitely. Nobody — including us — can edit or delete a transcript or summary once it exists.
  • If you later join Walkie Pro with this number, the call history becomes yours only after the person who called you confirms you’re the same person.

Quick answers

What did the voice at the start of the call say?
It said "This call is recorded." It plays right after you answer, and the caller's microphone is held while it plays.
Can I get a copy of the recording?
No. The recording, transcript and summary stay in Walkie Pro with the person who called you, and you have no account to see them.
Was my voicemail recorded?
Walkie is built to detect voicemail and hang up without recording or playing anything. If it can't tell, it treats the call as answered and plays the notice.
Which number called me?
The caller's own mobile number, or their Walkie line number if they have one.
How do I stop Walkie Pro users calling me?
Tell the person who called you, or email support@walkiepro.com from your number. Support can stop you being called or texted through Walkie Pro.
Do I need the app to take a Walkie call?
No. It rings your phone like any other call, and you answer it the normal way.
