Why you got a call recap text

Someone you just spoke with uses Walkie Pro and sent you a short written recap of your call. Walkie only texts these from its own numbers after that person records in the app that you agreed to get them, and you can reply STOP to those. A recap can also come from the person’s own phone number, and then a STOP goes to them, not to Walkie.

What’s in the text

  • Who it’s from, first. It opens with the caller’s name, for example “Dana: recap of our call about 12 Oak St.” Then comes a short summary and, when there is one, a list headed “Action items:”. It ends with “Sent from Walkie Pro, call summaries for construction crews.” A text that carries the notice below ends with that notice instead, so you never get both in one text.
  • Other kinds. If the call didn’t connect, it may say “we weren’t able to connect”. If they left you a message, it may say “I called and left you a message. Here it is:” followed by the words of it. From a Walkie line, the recording may be attached as audio too.
  • The notice. The first text Walkie sends to your number, and at most once every 30 days after that, adds: “Walkie Pro: you’ll get a recap after each call with (their name). Msg&data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.”
  • Language. The recap is written in the language the call was held in. The notice is always in English.
  • Length. A recap can run up to 1,600 characters, so it may arrive in more than one part.
  • The number it comes from. If the caller has a Walkie line, Walkie sends it from that number. Otherwise Walkie sends it from a Walkie Pro number. The caller can also send a recap from their own phone, as an ordinary text from their own number; that one has no STOP notice. The first text from a Walkie line says “This is my Walkie work line. Save it to reach me:” with the number, a contact card and the STOP and HELP notice.
  • How the caller chose to send it. In the app these are called recap texts, and they pick, for everyone or for you alone, Text them, Ask me or Don’t. With Don’t they can still text you a recap themselves. A new account asks first. They can stop an automatic recap until Walkie has written it up; after that it’s sent right away.

If it didn’t work

  • You replied STOP and still got a text. If it came from the caller’s own number, your STOP went to them, not Walkie; ask them to stop, or contact us. A text Walkie already had on its way when you replied can still arrive. After that, Walkie checks for your STOP right before every send. If more keep coming, contact us.
  • You replied something else and the caller didn’t answer. Replies other than STOP and HELP don’t reach the caller. Call or text them on their own number.
  • You want recaps again after replying STOP. Texting START doesn’t turn them back on, and the caller can’t turn them back on from the app. Contact us.

What Walkie can’t do

  • Walkie can’t pass your reply on to the caller, and it never sees replies to texts a caller sends from their own phone.
  • Walkie can’t take a STOP back on its own: once your number has opted out, the caller’s app refuses to record your agreement again.
  • Walkie can’t send you the call recording or the full transcript. Only the caller can share more.
  • A STOP to a Walkie number applies to your number for every Walkie Pro user, including job-site access codes sent by text. You can still choose email for those.

When to contact us

Email support@walkiepro.com from the number that got the texts, or call +1 (323) 504-7400, if you never agreed to recap texts, they didn’t stop after STOP, or you want them back after replying STOP. We can stop Walkie Pro texting that number. We reply within one business day.

Quick answers

How do I stop these texts?
If Walkie sent it, reply STOP and Walkie sends your number no more texts, for anyone. If it came from the caller's own number, ask them, or email support@walkiepro.com.
Who sent me this text?
The person named at the start of the text, who uses Walkie Pro. Walkie sent it for them, or they sent it from their own phone.
Did I agree to this?
Before Walkie texts you from its numbers, the caller has to record in the app that you agreed. A recap they send from their own phone needs no such step.
Can I reply to the text to reach the caller?
No. Only STOP and HELP are read, so call or text the caller directly.
Why does the text say "This is my Walkie work line"?
The caller has a Walkie line, a phone number Walkie gives them for work. The first text from that number introduces it and includes a contact card you can save.
Does it cost me anything?
Walkie Pro doesn't charge you. Your carrier's normal message and data rates may apply.
