What Ask can and can’t answer
Ask answers from your own crew's messages, calls, lists, notes and files, with sources to check. It can be wrong, and it never uses the internet.
- iPhone · Android · Web
- Free · Crew · Plus · Elite
Ask Walkie answers questions from your own crew’s records in Walkie: messages, call transcripts and summaries, lists, notes, voice memos, files, photos and your own follow-ups. It can be wrong, so open the sources under an answer to check the original before you act on it. It never uses the internet, and it only reads what you can already see.
Steps
- Tap the search field at the top of Projects.
- Tap the Ask Walkie bar at the bottom of the search screen.
- Type your question, or hold the mic button to say it.
- Read the answer, then tap a source under it to open the message, transcript line, list, note, file or photo it came from. Where video transcripts are on, a video’s transcript may also show up as a source.
If it didn’t work
- “Couldn’t find anything about that in your records.” Ask found nothing that matches. Name the job or the person and ask again. This doesn’t use a question.
- The answer is close but not what you asked. Ask again from inside the conversation or job with Ask about this conversation or Ask about this job, so it only looks there.
- “Ask needs a connection.” Ask only works online. You can still search what’s on your phone while you’re offline.
- Something from long ago is missing on Free or Crew. It may be older than your plan’s history. See How far back your plan reaches.
What Walkie can’t do
- Ask can’t promise an answer is right. Check the source before you cut, order or bill from it.
- Ask can’t look anything up outside Walkie: no web, no weather, no codes, no prices from suppliers.
- Ask can’t see who was on site or at a meeting. It only knows what someone wrote or said in Walkie.
- Ask can’t do engineering or code calculations, and it isn’t professional advice.
- Ask can’t read conversations you aren’t a member of, or messages from before you joined one.
- Ask doesn’t use answers you saved as notes as a source for later answers.
- Ask in the current app doesn’t answer from calendar events, and it only sees your own follow-ups, never anyone else’s.

Quick answers
- Can Ask be wrong?
- Yes. Every answer page says AI can make mistakes, so open a source to check the original before you act on a number or a date.
- Does Ask search the internet?
- No. Ask answers only from what your crew wrote or said in Walkie, never from the web, weather or building codes.
- Can Ask see conversations I'm not in?
- No. Ask reads only what you can already see in your own conversations.
- How far back does Ask look?
- On Free and Crew, Ask looks back as far as your plan's history reaches. On Plus and Elite it searches all of your history.
- Can I ask in Spanish?
- Yes. Ask answers in the language you ask in, even when the messages it found are in another language.
- Who writes the answers?
- Anthropic's Claude writes the answers. Google Gemini turns your content and your question into search vectors so Ask can find the right records.
