Your monthly Ask questions
Each plan includes Ask questions every month. One is used when Ask finds records to answer from. Nothing found costs nothing.

Every plan includes Ask questions each month: 5 on Free, 10 on Crew, 25 on Plus and 150 on Elite. A question is used only when Ask finds records to answer from. They usually come back at the start of the calendar month (UTC), and unused ones don’t carry over.
Steps
- Tap You.
- Under Plan, tap Plan & usage.
- Look under Ask Walkie. It shows how many you’ve used, how many are left, and the date they reset. Go by that date: in a new account’s first month it can fall later than the 1st.
When you have three or fewer left, Ask also shows how many are left this month above the box where you type.
What uses a question:
- Ask finds records to answer from: one question is used, at the moment it finds them, before the answer is written.
- Ask finds nothing (“Couldn’t find anything about that in your records.”): no question is used.
- Walkie’s server fails partway and you get an error instead of an answer: the question is given back.
- You tap Stop while it’s writing, or your connection drops mid-answer: the question is still used.
- A follow-up in the same thread: each follow-up is its own question. After five in a row, Ask asks you to start a New question, and that one counts too.
- The same question again, typed or tapped: it’s sent and uses a question like any other. The one exception: when you come back into Ask and it would re-send a question already answered in that thread, Ask stops and says “You already asked that — the answer is above.” Nothing is used then.
If it didn’t work
- “You’ve used this month’s … questions. Resets …” (with your plan’s number and a date). Ask stops answering for the month when you reach your plan's questions. Ask stays paused until that date, and Plan & usage reads “Ask Walkie is paused until” the same date.
- “Too many questions in a row. Try again in a minute.” Separate from your monthly number, Walkie limits how fast anyone can ask. By default that’s 6 a minute, 40 an hour and 100 a day, and the message is the same for all three. A minute is enough after a quick burst; after the hourly or daily limit, you’ll need to wait longer.
- “That’s five questions in a row. Start a new question to keep going.” Tap New question to start a fresh thread.
- You need more questions this month. Paid plans are sold to customers in the United States. You upgrade in Plan & usage, and pay on Stripe's checkout page in your browser.
What Walkie can’t do
- The app has no way to buy or add extra questions, and unused questions don’t carry over.
- Walkie doesn’t give back a question you stopped partway.
- Your questions don’t reset early. They come back on the reset date Plan & usage shows.
- A question can’t be longer than 500 characters.

Quick answers
- How many Ask questions do I get?
- Free includes 5 a month, Crew 10, Plus 25 and Elite 150.
- If I stop an answer halfway, do I get the question back?
- No. Stopping an answer still uses the question, because the work was already done.
- When do my questions come back?
- Usually at the start of the calendar month (UTC). In your first month the date can differ, so go by the reset date Plan & usage shows next to your questions.
- Do unused questions roll over?
- No. Each month starts again at your plan's number.
- Does searching use questions?
- No. Searching for a word, a person or a file in the search field never uses a question. Only Ask answers do.
- What does "Too many questions in a row" mean?
- You asked a lot in a short time. Wait before asking again: after a burst a minute is usually enough, but after many questions in an hour or a day it takes longer. It doesn't use up your monthly questions.
