Why Ask says it couldn’t find anything
Ask found nothing that matches your question. That costs no question. Name the job or the person, or ask inside the conversation, and try again.

“Couldn’t find anything about that in your records.” means Ask found nothing that matches your question, and it didn’t use one of your questions. Name the job or the person, or ask from inside the conversation, and try again.
Steps
- Ask again with a name in it: the job address, the person, or the trade. For example, “What did Dave say about the rough-in at 124 Maple?”
- To look in one place only, open the conversation or the job and ask from there. In Projects, tap the circle on the left of a conversation, then tap Ask about this conversation. In a job’s sheet, tap Ask about this job.
- If Ask narrowed to a job you didn’t mean, a chip reads “Answering about” and the job. Tap that chip to clear it. Walkie confirms with “Cleared. Your next question covers every conversation unless it names a job. That uses one question.” Then ask again.
If it didn’t work
- You know it was said on a call, and Ask still can’t find it. Open the call and check that it has a transcript. Without a transcript, Ask has nothing to read from what was said on that call.
- It was a long time ago, and you’re on Free or Crew. Ask only looks back as far as your plan’s history reaches. See How far back your plan reaches.
- It was in a conversation you joined later, or one you’re not in. Ask can’t see it. Someone who was there can ask instead.
- Ask answered in one sentence that it can’t tell. It found related records but nothing that answers the question. That did use a question. Try a narrower question, or open the sources it shows.
What Walkie can’t do
- Ask can’t answer from anything that wasn’t written or said in Walkie, such as texts outside the app, phone calls on your regular dialer, or talk on site.
- Ask can’t see messages from before you joined a conversation.
- Ask can’t search past your plan’s history on Free or Crew.
- Ask doesn’t give back a question when it found records but they didn’t answer you.

Quick answers
- Did an answer that found nothing use one of my questions?
- No. When Ask shows "Couldn't find anything about that in your records.", your monthly questions are untouched.
- Ask found something but said it doesn't answer my question. Did that count?
- Yes. A question is used as soon as Ask finds matching records, even if what it found doesn't settle your question.
- What if two calls say different things?
- Ask goes with the newest and says that it changed. Open the sources to see both.
- Does filing a call under the job help Ask find it?
- Asking about a job looks through every conversation that job is connected to, filed or not. Filing helps Ask name the right job in its answer.
