File a message or call under the right job
A message files under the tab you send it on, and only you can change it, for 3 minutes. Calls are filed by what was said and can be changed later.

A message is filed under the job whose tab you send it on. If you picked the wrong one, you can change it yourself for 3 minutes after sending; after that it stays put. Calls work differently: Walkie files each call by what was said, and anyone who was in the conversation can change that on the call afterwards.
Steps
Send a message under the right job
- In the conversation, tap the job’s tab before you send. Activity means the message isn’t filed under a job.
- Check the chip in the message bar, next to the +. It shows where your message will go: the job’s name, or Activity.
- To switch, tap the chip and pick the job. The whole conversation switches to that job’s tab.
- Send.
Fix a message you just sent (first 3 minutes only)
- Press and hold your message. On a computer, right-click it.
- Tap File under a job, or Change job if it’s already under one.
- Pick the job it belongs to, or Not under a job to take it off the job it’s on.
- You’ll see “Filed under”, “Moved to” or “Removed from”, with the job’s name.
Fix the job on a call
- Open the call from the conversation.
- Under its linked jobs, tap Change. If the call isn’t filed under any job, the button reads Choose.
- In “What was this call about?”, tick every job the call touched, or tick Not about a job.
- Tap Save.
A single key point from the call can also go to a different job: tap the + on it, tap Move, pick the job, and tap Move again.
If it didn’t work
- There’s no File under a job or Change job row. The 3 minutes are up, it isn’t your message, or it’s a kind of message that can’t be moved: a call, a call summary, a location, a Bulletin post, a system line, a removed message, or one that hasn’t finished sending.
- “This message was sent more than three minutes ago. Its job is set now.” The window closed while you were choosing. The message stays where it is.
- “This message can’t be filed there. Only the sender can change it, and only to a job on this conversation.” You can only pick jobs connected to this conversation. Connect the job first, then send again.
- “No jobs on this conversation yet. Connect one first.” Connect a job to the conversation first.
- “Filing a message needs a connection. Try again once you are back online.” Get signal or Wi-Fi and try again, inside the 3 minutes.
- The call has no linked jobs section. The conversation has no jobs connected. Connect one, then come back to the call.
- Saving the call’s jobs is refused. The call hasn’t ended yet, or you weren’t in the conversation when it happened. Only people who were in the conversation at the time can change it.
- A call shows “Walkie matched this from what was said”. That’s Walkie’s guess. Check it and use Change if it’s wrong.
What Walkie can’t do
- The tab you call from doesn’t decide where the call is filed. There is no job pick before a call.
- Nobody can change the job on someone else’s message, and nobody can change any message’s job after 3 minutes.
- Changing a message’s job moves that message and its own photos, files and voice memo. It doesn’t move a list or follow-up someone made from it.
- A call can only be filed under jobs connected to that conversation.

Quick answers
- Does calling from a job's tab file the call under that job?
- No, after the call Walkie files it under the job or jobs it heard talked about, from the jobs connected to that conversation. You can change it on the call afterwards.
- Can I move someone else's message to another job?
- No. Only the person who sent a message can change its job, and only in the first 3 minutes after sending.
- I sent a photo on the wrong job an hour ago. Can I move it?
- No, a message's job can only be changed in the first 3 minutes after sending. After that it stays where it was sent.
- Who can change which job a call is filed under?
- Anyone who was in the conversation when the call happened, at any time after the call ends.
- Can a call be filed under more than one job?
- Yes, pick every job the call touched. Most calls are about one.
- Do I need a connection to change a message's job?
- Yes. Changing a message's job needs a connection, so try again once you're back online.
