Paid plans are sold to customers in the United States. You upgrade in Plan & usage, and pay on Stripe's checkout page in your browser. You switch or cancel your plan in the app, any time.

Steps

Upgrade from Free:

  1. Tap You, then under Plan tap Plan & usage.
  2. Tap See plans.
  3. Pick Crew, Plus or Elite, and choose Monthly or Yearly.
  4. Tap Upgrade to and the plan’s name. The app notes “Checkout opens in your browser.” On Android, Google may show a notice first.
  5. Pay on Stripe’s checkout page. Tax is added there.
  6. Come back to Walkie. Your new plan shows in Plan & usage.

Switch between paid plans:

  1. In Plan & usage, tap See plans and pick the plan you want.
  2. Tap Upgrade to or Switch to and the plan’s name. There’s no second checkout.
  3. Moving up happens straight away. The app shows “You’ll pay” and the amount before you confirm.
  4. Moving down happens when your current billing period ends. The app shows “Switch scheduled” and the date, and Plan & usage shows the change until then. Tap “Keep” and your plan’s name there to stay on your plan.

To change how often you pay, use “Switch to yearly” or “Switch to monthly” in Plan & usage. Monthly to yearly is charged straight away; yearly to monthly happens at renewal.

To go down to Free, cancel instead. The plans sheet says “To move to Free, cancel your plan in Plan & usage.”

Cancel:

  1. In Plan & usage, tap Cancel plan.
  2. Confirm with Cancel plan.
  3. You keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for, then move to Free. To undo it before then, tap Turn auto-renew back on.

Change your card or see invoices: in Plan & usage, tap Card and invoices. It opens Stripe’s billing page in your browser.

If it didn’t work

  • The app says “Plans aren’t sold in this app in your country.” Plans aren’t sold in the app where you are. On an iPhone, that follows the country of your App Store account.
  • You paid, but the old plan still shows. In Plan & usage, tap Refresh under “Plan not showing?”
  • The app won’t let you switch plans. If your plan is set to end, tap Turn auto-renew back on first, then switch.
  • There’s no Cancel plan button. It only shows for a paid plan you bought through Stripe that is still set to renew. If auto-renew is already off, you’ve already cancelled: Turn auto-renew back on shows instead. A free month earned through invites ends on its own.

What Walkie can’t do

  • Paid plans are sold to customers in the United States only.
  • Switching between paid plans doesn’t take effect mid-period, and there’s no partial refund for the rest of a period.
  • You change or cancel your plan in the app. Stripe’s billing page is for your card and invoices.
  • Apple and Google don’t bill for Walkie, so there’s nothing to cancel in your phone’s subscription settings.

When to contact us

Quick answers

How do I upgrade?
In Plan & usage, tap See plans, pick a plan, then tap Upgrade to and the plan's name. You pay on Stripe's checkout page, which opens in your browser. Paid plans are sold to customers in the United States.
Where do I pay?
On Stripe's checkout page, which opens in your browser from the app. Walkie never bills through Apple or Google.
If I'm already paying and switch plans, when does it change?
Moving up, to a higher plan or from monthly to yearly, happens right away: you pay the difference for the rest of the period, and the app shows the amount before you confirm. Moving down happens at the end of the period you already paid for, and you can keep your plan until then. There's no second checkout either way.
If I cancel, do I lose my plan straight away?
No. You keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for, then move to Free. Nothing is deleted.
Do I need to call anyone to cancel?
No. You cancel in the app. You can also email support and ask us to cancel for you.
Can I change my plan on Stripe's billing page?
No. Stripe's billing page is for your card and invoices. You switch or cancel your plan in the app.
