How do I write a note for the job, and who can see it?
Tap + beside the message box, then Note, New note and Attach note. The note posts in the conversation, and everyone in it can read and edit it.
- iPhone · Android · Web
- Free · Crew · Plus · Elite
To write a note, tap + › Note › New note, and tap Attach note when you’re done. The note posts in the conversation like a message, filed under the job tab you’re on, and everyone in the conversation can read and edit it. Notes can’t be pinned, and people added to the conversation later don’t see notes from before they joined.
Steps
Write a note
- Open the conversation, and the job tab if the note is for a job.
- Tap + beside the message box.
- Tap Note, then New note.
- Type a title and the note.
- Tap Attach note. It posts straight away.
Find a note later
- Tap the note in the conversation.
- Or tap + › Note to see the notes on this job or conversation.
- Or search and use the Notes filter.
Edit a note
- Tap the note to open it.
- Tap Edit note and make your changes.
- Tap Save. A note needs both a title and some text to save.
Send a copy somewhere else
Open the note and tap Share snapshot to send a copy of the note, as it is now, to a different conversation. Later edits don’t change the copy, and a snapshot can’t go back into the note’s own conversation.
If it didn’t work
- “Someone else is editing this note.” (or the person’s name, “… is editing this note.”) One person edits a note at a time. Wait a moment and try again.
- Save does nothing. Check the note has both a title and some text.
- Someone can’t see the note. They joined the conversation after it was posted. Post a new note with what they need, or put it on the job’s Bulletin.
What Walkie can’t do
- Notes can’t be pinned, and there’s no Notes tab.
- There’s no private note. Every note is shared with the whole conversation.
- Walkie keeps no edit history for notes, so you can’t see what a note said before or who changed it. It only shows when it was last edited.
- Someone added to the conversation later can’t read notes posted before they joined.

Quick answers
- Can I pin a note to the top?
- No. Notes can't be pinned. A note posts in the conversation like a message, and you find it again through + beside the message box, then Note.
- Is there a Notes tab?
- No. Notes live inside the conversation they were posted in. You can also find them by searching with the Notes filter.
- Can I make a private note?
- No. Every note is shared with everyone in the conversation. For something only you see, use a follow-up.
- Can I see who changed a note, or what it said before?
- No. A note shows when it was last edited, but Walkie keeps no edit history for notes.
- Should I keep the gate code in a note?
- Better not. Someone added to the conversation later can't see notes from before they joined. Post the code on the job's Bulletin under Getting in instead.
