How do follow-ups and reminders work?

A follow-up is your own private reminder. Only you see it. Give it a date and Walkie reminds you then; without a date there's no reminder.

Today… follow-ups. The easy way to keep every promise.

You told him you'd get back to him. Here's how Walkie makes sure you do.

Swipe the message to the left. Or press and hold it... and tap Follow up.

Pick a day... or leave it open. Only you can see it.

Calls work the same way. Luis said he'd send you a price? Tap the clock on that key point... and pick a day.

Everything you're chasing is in one place. On Projects, tap Follow-ups. What's due first is on top.

Tap one, and you're right back at the message. When it's handled, swipe it to done.

Walkie reminds you on the day you picked. Try it on your next message.

A follow-up is your own private reminder, about a message, a list item or something from a call, and only you can see it. Give it a date and Walkie sends you one reminder at that time; with no date there’s no reminder. To see all your follow-ups, tap Follow-ups at the top of Projects.

Steps

From a message

  1. Press and hold the message.
  2. Tap Follow up. The Add to Follow-ups sheet opens.
  3. Pick Tomorrow, In 3 days or Next week (each lands at 7:00 AM), or tap Pick… to choose a day and time. Skip the date if you don’t want a reminder.
  4. Tap Add to Follow-ups.

You can also swipe a message left to follow up on it. On Projects, swiping a conversation left follows up on its latest message.

From a call’s key points

  1. Open the conversation and tap the call in it to open the call record.
  2. In Summary, go to Key points and tap + on each point you want to keep.
  3. Tap Follow up on N (N counts the points you picked that aren’t in your Follow-ups yet), choose a date, then tap Add to Follow-ups.

From a list item

  1. Tap the item on its list.
  2. Tap Follow up and set it up the same way. Unfollow on the same item drops it again.

Look after a follow-up

  1. Tap Follow-ups at the top of Projects. Your follow-ups are listed by due date, with the count of overdue ones on the filter. Tapping a row takes you to the message, list item or call it’s about.
  2. To finish one, swipe the row to the right (Done), or press and hold it and tap Mark as done. You get a moment to undo it.
  3. Swiping the other way (Follow up) opens the date and time so you can change them.
  4. Press and hold for the other options: Reset to pick a new date, Remove from follow-ups to drop it without marking it done, and See chat (or Jump to list item for a list item) to go to where it came from.

If it didn’t work

  1. No reminder arrived. Press and hold the follow-up and tap Reset to see its date. The sheet reads “No date · no reminder” when it has none; pick one and save.
  2. Still nothing. In You › Calls & notifications › Notifications, check that All notifications and Follow-ups are both on.
  3. One conversation or job is quiet. Tap the conversation’s name at the top of the conversation and check Follow-up reminders. Each job has the same switch in its own settings. If either the conversation’s or the job’s switch is off, that follow-up won’t remind you.
  4. It came from a list item. Once that item is ticked off or deleted, its follow-up stops reminding you. The follow-up itself stays in your follow-ups.
  5. Your phone blocks Walkie. If notifications for Walkie are off in your phone’s Settings, no reminder can show. See the notifications troubleshooting article below.

What Walkie can’t do

  • A follow-up can’t be shared, made visible to the conversation, or assigned to anyone. It is always private.
  • The reminder notification has no buttons. You can’t mark a follow-up done or snooze it from the lock screen.
  • A follow-up with no date never reminds you.
  • There’s no separate alert setting. One reminder goes out at the date and time you picked.
  • Walkie doesn’t create follow-ups from a call by itself. You choose them from the key points.

Quick answers

Can anyone else see my follow-ups?
No. A follow-up is private to the person who made it, and the sheet says so: "Only you can see this."
Can I give a follow-up to someone on my crew?
No. To hand work to someone, put it on a list, assign the item to them, and use Nudge if they need a push.
Why didn't my follow-up remind me?
Most often it has no date, reminders are switched off, or it was marked done. A follow-up made from a list item also stays quiet once that item is ticked off or deleted.
Can I mark a follow-up done from the notification?
No. The reminder notification has no buttons. Open Walkie, tap Follow-ups at the top of Projects, and mark it done there.
Does Walkie turn things said on a call into follow-ups by itself?
No. The call summary lists key points, and nothing becomes a follow-up until you tap + on a key point and add it.
How do I move a reminder to another day?
Tap Follow-ups at the top of Projects, press and hold the follow-up, tap Reset, and pick a new date and time.
