Walkie notifications aren’t arriving

Open You, then Notifications. The box at the top says what is blocking alerts on this phone and gives the button that fixes it. Never sign out to fix it.

You › Calls & notifications › Notifications

Open You, then Notifications under Calls & notifications. The box at the top of that screen checks this phone’s permission, this phone’s setup with Walkie, and your Walkie alert switch, and shows the one button that fixes whichever is wrong. Don’t sign out to fix notifications: signing out erases anything that hasn’t sent yet.

Steps

  1. Tap You in the bottom bar.
  2. Under Calls & notifications, tap Notifications.
  3. Read the box at the top of the sheet. If it has no button, tap the box to see the full check. Then tap the button it shows:
    • Turn on notifications, Try again or Open Settings when the phone has notifications turned off for Walkie. In the phone’s settings, allow notifications for Walkie Pro.
    • If the box says setup didn’t finish, tap it, then tap Retry setup. It asks nothing of you.
    • Turn on alerts when your Walkie alerts are paused. This is the same switch as All notifications.
  4. Under What reaches you, make sure All notifications is on, and any category you care about (Schedule, Site notices, Weather, Follow-ups, Referrals, Billing) is on too.
  5. If only one conversation is quiet, open it, tap its name at the top, and check that Mute conversation is off. A job can also be muted everywhere with Mute job everywhere.

If it didn’t work

  • The box says notifications are off and the button only opens Settings. The phone has already been asked once, so only the phone’s settings can turn them back on. On iPhone: Settings › Walkie Pro › Notifications › Allow Notifications. On Android: the app’s Notifications page in the phone’s settings.
  • iPhone: Device permission says On, delivered quietly. Alerts arrive without a sound or banner. Tap Open Settings and allow full alerts.
  • iPhone: a Focus is on. A Focus can hold back alerts. Turn it off to test, or allow Walkie Pro in that Focus.
  • Android: alerts arrive late. Android can put Walkie to sleep. Under On this phone in the same sheet, tap Calls in the background and allow it.
  • Android: one kind of alert is missing. In the phone’s settings for Walkie Pro, check that the Messages and Call updates categories are on.
  • A new conversation only alerted once. It’s a message request. Open it and tap Accept to get its alerts.
  • In a browser. The box explains how to allow notifications for the site. Tap Show browser steps, follow them, reload Walkie, then tap Check again.

What Walkie can’t do

  • Walkie can’t fix notifications by signing you out. Signing out erases this phone’s copy of your work, including anything not yet sent.
  • Walkie doesn’t send Time-Sensitive notifications on iPhone, so that setting changes nothing for Walkie.
  • Walkie can’t silence alerts on a schedule, like overnight. You can mute a conversation, a job, or a category, or pause all alerts.
  • Once the phone has stopped asking, Walkie can’t turn its notification permission back on for you. Only the phone’s settings can.
  • Walkie doesn’t sign in with email and a code. Sign-in is Continue with Apple (not on Android) or Continue with Google.

Quick answers

Will signing out and back in fix notifications?
No. Signing out erases anything on this phone that hasn't sent yet, and Walkie already re-registers your phone every time it opens. Use Retry setup in You › Notifications instead.
Does turning off All notifications stop Walkie calls from ringing?
No. All notifications covers messages, files and updates. It never silences an incoming call.
Do I need to reset anything after getting a new phone?
No. Sign in on the new phone and open Walkie, and it registers that phone for notifications by itself.
Does Walkie send Time-Sensitive notifications on iPhone?
No. Walkie doesn't use Time-Sensitive alerts, so that iPhone setting makes no difference to Walkie.
Someone new messaged me and I only got one alert. Why?
That's a message request. You get one alert for it, and no more alerts from that conversation until you tap Accept.
What are Walkie's Android notification categories called?
Walkie's own categories are Messages and Call updates. Call updates covers missed calls, voicemails and call summaries.
