Let's talk photos and files. No more hunting for that one photo.
Where did he send that photo? With Walkie, you don't have to remember.
In the conversation, tap the plus to attach photos or files. Your camera and your recent photos are right at the top.
Pick a photo... or tap Files for a drawing or a PDF. It's filed under the project you're in.
Your crew does the same, from their own conversations.
Now open the Files tab. Each project has one row... with every photo and file, from every conversation.
Tap the project. Switch between Media and Files... and open the drawing right there.
Want just one person's photos? Tap the filter, and pick the conversation. Try it on your next project.
In a conversation, tap + beside the message box to take a photo or video, pick from your photos, or add a file from your phone. It’s sent under the job tab you’re on. People who were in the conversation when you sent it can see it, including anyone who has since left; people added later can’t.
Steps
Send photos, videos or files
- Open the conversation, and the job tab if it’s for a job.
- Tap + beside the message box. A sheet opens with the camera and your recent photos in a strip at the top. Under it are two rows of tiles: Share something you have and Make something new.
- Choose what to add:
- Camera opens the camera; switch between Photo and Video there. Or tap a recent photo in the strip to add it.
- Under Share something you have, each tile says where things come from. Photos (Your phone) opens all your photos and videos. Files (Your phone) is for PDFs, drawings, spreadsheets and any other file on your phone. Contact shares a contact card.
- From job shows the job’s name under it. It sends again something already shared on this job, and marks what’s already in this conversation. It only shows when you’re on a job tab.
- Under Make something new, List, Note, Event and Location are for things that go as their own message. See the lists, notes and schedule articles.
- In a browser, the files tile reads Computer files, and the tiles say Your computer instead of Your phone.
- Type a message too if you like. It goes as its own message next to the photos.
- Send.
Add from the Files tab
Tap + on the Files tab. The sheet opens with where it goes as its title. Tap the title to pick another job or conversation. Then tap Photos or Files, pick what you want, and send them.
Find it again
- Open the Files tab, choose Conversation or Job, pick one, then switch between Media (photos and videos) and Files (documents).
- Or, inside a conversation, open its snapshot from the top of the screen and go to Media or Files.
- Older items may be hidden in the app if they’re past your plan’s history window.
Open a file
Tap it. PDFs and pictures open inside Walkie. Other file types show a preview or a card, and Open in another app hands them to an app on your phone.
If it didn’t work
- “Still syncing” The sender’s upload hasn’t reached your phone yet. Give it a moment.
- “Couldn’t get this file, tap to retry” Tap it to try again.
- “You’re offline. This file will open when you’re back online.” It opens once you have signal.
- “This file isn’t available. Ask the sender to share it again.” Ask them to send it again.
- Your photo or video didn’t send. Open the You tab. While anything is waiting to send, Sending problems shows at the top; tap it to see what hasn’t gone and try again. Signing out or reinstalling erases anything that hasn’t sent yet, so don’t do that to fix it.
- Too big or too long. See the file size article below for the limits and the exact messages.
- Someone can’t see it. They joined after you sent it. Send it again. (A file attached to a live Bulletin post, or to a list shared into their conversation, they can see.)
What Walkie can’t do
- People added to a conversation later can’t see photos, videos or files sent in it before they joined.
- In a browser, Walkie can’t send a video as a video, and your photo library may not show. Use Computer files for photos and files; a video file under 50 MB may still go that way as a file.
- Anyone who can see a photo or file can save it or share it outside Walkie.

Quick answers
- Can someone I add later see photos we sent before?
- No. People see photos, videos and files shared while they were in the conversation. Send it again if a newcomer needs it.
- If someone leaves the conversation, can they still see what we sent?
- Yes. People keep access to what was shared while they were in the conversation. They don't see anything sent after they left.
- Where do I find a photo someone sent last month?
- Open the Files tab, pick the conversation or job, and switch to Media. Files like PDFs are under Files.
- Can I send photos or videos without signal?
- Yes. They show in the conversation right away and upload when your phone is back online. While anything is waiting to send, Sending problems shows at the top of the You tab.
- Does Walkie keep the photo's location?
- Not on photos sent as photos: Walkie removes the location and the camera make and model before they upload. A picture sent through Files may go as a file, just as it is.
- Can I send a video from a browser?
- Not as a video: in a browser Walkie says videos can only be sent from the phone app. Photos and files work, and a video file under 50 MB may still go through Computer files as a file.
