What Walkie Pro is for

Walkie Pro is where you message and call the people on your jobs. Each conversation holds its jobs as tabs, and calls are recorded and written up.

Walkie Pro is where you message and call the people you work with, organized by job. You talk in conversations, each job you connect to a conversation gets its own tab there, and every Walkie call is recorded, transcribed and summarized so what was said can be found later.

How it’s laid out

  • Five tabs along the bottom: Projects, Calls, Bulletin, Files and You. The filters at the top of Projects are My Projects, Unread, Follow-ups, People and Lists.
  • Conversations come first. A conversation is the people: one other person, a group, or My Notes, your private conversation with just you in it.
  • Jobs live inside conversations. Inside a conversation, the first tab is Activity, for anything not filed under a job. Each job you connect gets its own tab after that, and Add to a project adds another.
  • A job’s tab belongs to that conversation. If the same job is connected to two conversations, each keeps its own messages and files for it.
  • What you post goes where you post it. A message or photo sent on a job’s tab is filed under that job. One sent on Activity isn’t filed under a job.
  • Calls are filed by what was said. After a call, Walkie reads what was talked about and files it under the matching job from that conversation’s connected jobs. If it can’t tell, it should leave the call unfiled. Either way, you can correct it afterwards.

If it didn’t work

  • You connected a job but don’t see its messages in another conversation. That’s by design: each conversation keeps its own messages and files for a job.
  • A call landed under the wrong job, or none. Walkie files calls by what was said. See File a message or call under the right job.
  • A word in the app doesn’t make sense. See Words Walkie uses.

What Walkie can’t do

  • It isn’t a project-management suite: no Gantt charts, scheduling engine, job costing, payroll, invoices or lien waivers.
  • It doesn’t track anyone’s location. Location is only read while the app is open, when you send your ETA or share a location.
  • It isn’t a plan viewer. You can send PDFs and drawings in a conversation, but there are no CAD or markup tools.
  • Nobody but the job’s owner and its managers can change its name or its address. A job’s name starts as the address you pick when you create it, or the name you typed if no address matched; the owner or a manager can change it later in Project settings.

Quick answers

Is Walkie Pro a project management app?
No, it has no Gantt charts, job costing, payroll or invoicing. It handles the talking about a job: messages, calls, photos, files, lists and follow-ups.
Does Walkie track where my crew is?
No. Your location is only used when you choose to send your ETA or share a location, and only while the app is open.
Are calls recorded?
Yes. Every Walkie call is recorded, transcribed and summarized, and the record is shared with the people in that conversation on Walkie.
Do jobs contain conversations, or do conversations contain jobs?
Conversations contain jobs. You connect a job to a conversation and it shows up there as its own tab.
What is My Notes?
My Notes is a private conversation with just you in it. Use it for your own notes, voice memos and walkthroughs. It isn't a filter: find it in the People list on the Projects tab, with your other conversations.
