This is the list of names Walkie Pro uses, what people often call each thing instead, and a one-line meaning. Use the app’s word when you look for something: it’s the word on the button.

The words

Each entry: the app’s word, then what people also call it, then what it means.

Where things live

  • Projects, Calls, Bulletin, Files, You — also called: the menu, the bottom bar. The five tabs along the bottom of the app. Settings and people don’t have tabs of their own; both are under You.
  • My Projects, Unread, Follow-ups, People, Lists — also called: the Follow-ups tab, the Lists tab, chips. The filters at the top of Projects. Tap one to switch what the list shows. My Notes isn’t one of them.
  • Conversation — also called: chat, thread, group, channel. The people you talk to: one other person, a group, or My Notes. Jobs live inside conversations, not the other way round.
  • My Notes — also called: My Walkie, notes to self, my own space. Your private conversation with only you in it, in the People list with the rest.
  • Job — also called: project, site, address. A place of work. It’s named from its address when it’s created, and its owner or a manager can rename it in Project settings.
  • Project settings — also called: job settings. The sheet behind the gear on a job’s page: Name, Address, the people on the job with Add someone, who can post to its Bulletin, notifications, and the conversations it appears in.
  • Add to a project — also called: Connect a job, add a job, link a job. Gives a job its own tab in a conversation. Outside a conversation, the same step reads Create a project.
  • Create job — also called: new project. Makes a new job from an address, in the New job sheet.
  • Activity — also called: the main feed, unfiled. The first tab in a conversation, for things not filed under a job.
  • Job feed — also called: job tab. A job’s own tab inside a conversation. Each conversation keeps its own feed for a job.
  • Archive — also called: hide, put away. Where archived jobs, conversations and lists go, under You. Archiving doesn’t delete anything.

Calls

  • Walkie call — also called: app call, in-app call. A call between people on Walkie. Every one is recorded, transcribed and summarized.
  • Outside call — also called: calling a regular number, phone call. A call from Walkie to a regular phone number. Calls to regular phone numbers work for US and Canadian (+1) numbers.
  • Calls tab — also called: the dialer, recent calls. The tab where you start a call: search for a person or type a number.
  • Calls in You — also called: call settings, phone settings. The one page for calling settings: Your numbers, your defaults for calling people not on Walkie, Recording, and on Android, ringing.
  • Your mobile — also called: my cell, my own number. The phone number on your account. People see it when you call them from Walkie, unless your Walkie line carries the call.
  • Check your mobile — also called: verify my number, caller ID check. The one-time check that your mobile is yours, so people not on Walkie can see it when you call. Once it’s done, Your mobile shows Confirmed.
  • Your Walkie line — also called: my Walkie number, business number. A phone number Walkie gives you, so outside calls can come from it and callbacks ring in Walkie. To claim one, tap Get a Walkie line in You › Calls.
  • Number they see — also called: caller ID, which number shows. Which of your numbers people not on Walkie see when you call: Auto, Mobile or Walkie line. Auto is your mobile first, then your Walkie line once they’ve called it or had a text from it.
  • Phone settings — also called: calling settings for one person. The sheet titled “Calling” and a person’s name, opened from the line under their name in your conversation with them. It changes Number they see and After each call for just that person. A setting that follows your default is marked “your default”.
  • Recap texts — also called: summary texts, call recaps, the text after the call. A text Walkie sends someone who isn’t on Walkie after you call them, with a summary of the call. Choose Text them, Ask me or Don’t in You › Calls, under After each call.
  • Ring on the lock screen — also called: full-screen call alerts, full-screen incoming calls. On Android, the setting that lets a Walkie call ring over the lock screen. It’s in You › Calls › This phone.
  • Call summary — also called: call notes, AI summary. Walkie’s written write-up of a call.
  • Key points — also called: takeaways, highlights. The items pulled out of a call, each tagged Decision, Blocker, Question, Follow-up, Suggested list or Note.
  • Transcript — also called: word-for-word. The text of everything said on the call.
  • Mark — also called: flag, bookmark. A button during a call that marks a moment for the summary.
  • Minutes — also called: call time. Your plan’s monthly call allowance: free minutes on Free, included minutes on paid plans. Every current member of the conversation is charged a call’s minutes, including people who didn’t pick up, from when it starts ringing to hang-up. The minutes limit is on. A call gets its transcript and summary if anyone on it has minutes left when it ends, even if the call runs past their balance. If nobody does, the call stays a recording, and new calls are written up again when minutes reset. Translating a voice memo or writing up a walkthrough needs enough minutes left to cover it, and a video transcript needs someone on Plus or Elite with enough minutes left to cover the video.

Recording and keeping track

  • Voice memo — also called: voice note, voice message. A recorded message: hold the mic in the message box, and slide up to lock it.
  • Walkthrough — also called: site walk, walk-through recording. A recording you make in My Notes that Walkie writes up for you.
  • Follow-up — also called: reminder, to-do, task. Your private reminder about a message or item. Only you see it; give it a date to be reminded.
  • List — also called: punch list, checklist. A shared list in a conversation.
  • Nudge — also called: ping, poke. Reminds someone about a list item.
  • Bulletin — also called: job board, notice board, site notices. A job’s notice board, with a public page guests can open.
  • Take off board — also called: remove the notice. Takes a post off a job’s Bulletin.
  • Location — also called: pin, drop a pin. A place shared on a map, with Navigate and Send ETA.
  • Snapshot — also called: overview. A read-only view of a conversation’s media, tags and lists.
  • Ask Walkie — also called: AI, search, ask a question. Writes an answer with sources from your messages, calls and files. Each answer uses one of your plan’s monthly questions. Plain searching in the same box doesn’t use a question.

People

  • Crew — also called: team, subs, contacts. The people you work with. (Crew is also the name of a plan.)
  • My Contacts — also called: address book, phone book. Your contacts, under You, where you invite people.
  • Message request — also called: new contact, stranger message. The first message from someone new. You can Accept, Delete or Report and block.
  • Full access and Restricted — also called: admin and member. What someone can do in a conversation. Restricted people can’t add jobs unless they’re given permission.
  • Your office — also called: Slack, office connection. Connects your company’s Slack so the field can send things to the office.
  • Invite & earn — also called: referrals, invite rewards. Your invite link and code, and what you’ve earned. Rewards include Extra minutes and free months, and the amounts are shown in the app.
  • Walkie Partners — also called: partner program, affiliate. A program you can apply to from Invite & earn.

Plans

  • Plans — Free, Crew, Plus and Elite. Paid plans are sold to customers in the United States. You upgrade in Plan & usage, and pay on Stripe's checkout page in your browser.

  • Questions — also called: searches, AI questions. Your plan’s monthly allowance for Ask Walkie answers. Ask stops answering for the month when you reach your plan's questions.
  • History — also called: how far back, storage. How far back your plan lets you reach.
  • Call seats — also called: how many people on a call. How many people can join a group call: 2 on Free and Crew, 4 on Plus and Elite. The plan of the person who starts the call decides.

Account and help

  • Confirm it’s you — also called: sign-in code, security code. The code Walkie texts to the number on your account the first time you sign in on a new phone, after reinstalling, or in a browser.
  • Sending problems — also called: outbox, stuck, didn’t send. Where items that didn’t send wait, so you can retry them.
  • Diagnostics — also called: logs, crash report. Crash details you can copy into an email to support, under You › Help & support.
  • Deactivate account and Request account deletion — also called: close my account, delete me. Two different things under You › Account & privacy. Deletion runs after a 30-day grace period.

If it didn’t work

  • You can’t find the word you’re looking for. Search the Help Center for the word you’d use, or look at What’s on the You tab for settings.
  • A word in the app isn’t on this list. Email support@walkiepro.com with the word and the screen it’s on.

What Walkie can’t do

  • Settings and people don’t have tabs of their own. Settings are under You, and people are under You › My Contacts.
  • Nobody but a job’s owner and its managers can change its name or its address. To use one job in several conversations, connect it to each one.
